2024 Art Awards judges

IOANA GORDON-SMITH
Ioana Gordon-Smith is Lead Curator at Pātaka Art + Museum. She has held roles at Artspace Aotearoa, Objectspace, Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery and Pātaka Art + Museum. Ioana is also the co-founder and co-editor of Marinade: Aotearoa Journal of Moana Art and a trustee for Enjoy Contemporary Art Space, Wellington. As well as writing for art journals, magazines and exhibition catalogues, Ioana has contributed to publications produced by Thames & Hudson, Routledge, ARP Books and Te Papa Press.

GEORGIE KEYSE
Georgie Keyse is a curator at Pātaka Art + Museum. She has previously held roles at Manatū Taonga – Ministry for Culture and Heritage, City Gallery Invercargill, and was awarded the 2019 Liz Stringer Curatorial internship at Te Pūkenga Whakaata New Zealand Portrait Gallery. She is currently working toward a Master of User Experience Design at Victoria University and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from Massey University.

JONATHAN MILNE
Jonathan established the Learning Connexion: School of Creativity and Art based in Taita, 34 years ago. The school is described as being New Zealand’s only education provider fully dedicated to teaching creativity processes, both on-site and distance. Their NZQA approved programmes focus on learning by doing, and students are encouraged to draw from their life experiences to develop their creativity. Jonathan judged the Creativity and Promise Scholarship. This award entitles the winner to study for a six-month Level 4 Certificate at the Learning Connexion.

EUON MURRELL
Euon Murrell is Chair of the Pātaka Foundation and helped judge, along with Ioana and Georgie, the Highly Commended Award.
